Children in the 7-9 age range are curious and busy to explore the world by using their senses. Children acquire the skills to help themselves to create a basic knowledge of coding and also learn how to use the keyboard to type the code by making games.
We offer Unter the GUI authorized curriculum to teach kids Python and make games on PixelPad
We also offer kids to digital media course to learn doodle drawing and create art assets for their own game development.
Skills that Children Will Learn
- Students learn the basics of Python, by using the web-engine PixelPAD, software specifically designed to teach students how to code! This course is intended for our youngest students with little to no technical background. Students will learn about input, x and y coordinates, conditions and collision in this course, ending with their very own spaceship game!
- Based on what students have learned in PY101, they will dive deeper into Python & PixelPAD. Students will learn about creating worlds, with multiple playable areas and simple patrolling characters. Students will finish with a unique platformer puzzle game!Prerequisites: None
- Students get to the next level of Python & PixelPAD, to understand computer algorithms and computer programming basics. Students will learn about objects in code, arrays and creating interactive Non-Player-Controlled characters. Students will finish with a full Role Playing Game!
- Based on what students have learned in PY201, they will dive deeper into Python & PixelPAD. Students will learn about physics, such as velocity, gravity, and friction. After this course, students will have created their very own physics-based games!Prerequisites: PY101, PY102
